Apple Vision Pro Unveiled: See the World Through Apple’s Eyes

In our recent newsletter drop, we teased about Apple’s rumored VR headset which was unveiled as Vision Pro at WWDC earlier this week. It’s their first new product in over a decade, and it’s a real game-changer.

What is it? Vision Pro is the first-ever spatial computer. Imagine your living room becoming the canvas of your digital life, blurring the lines between physical and digital. Controlled by your eyes, hands, and voice, it’s like stepping into the future.

What’s under the hood? As Apple’s first product that you look through, it includes 5 sensors, 12 cameras, and a 4K display for each eye. Powered by visionOS, it’s so high-res and fast, it feels real. Wear glasses? Don’t worry, Apple’s got you covered with corrective lens inserts.

What can it do? It turns your space into a personal cinema, takes FaceTime to new heights, and lets you capture and relive moments with Spatial Audio. Imagine virtually sitting in the stands at your favorite sporting event or enjoying Disney 3D movies like never before. Plus, it could revolutionize biz ops with 3D virtual meetings and training programs that feel like real-world experiences.

The downside? The headset is a bit heavy and costs a hefty $3,499 which is 7x more than Meta’s Quest 3. While we were blown away by the tech, the promo made the experience seem a bit isolating. Mark Zuckerberg agrees…

[It] could be the vision of the future of computing, but like, it’s not the one that I want.

AI Superhero: Will AI Save the World?

As we marvel at tech like Vision Pro, let’s not forget the societal implications of our increasing tech obsession. Enter Mark Andreessen, Silicon Valley’s bigshot VC, and his latest narrative (click tweet below šŸ‘‡ļø) on how AI could tackle big global issues, boost productivity, drive economic growth, and even create new jobs.

But let’s hit pause. While AI might replace some jobs quickly, the creation of new ones could take a while. Reskilling could be a tall order for many. So, while Andreesen’s vision is rosy, the transition might not be as smooth.

On a positive note, Andreesen rightly dismisses the idea that AI will wipe us out, but it won’t necessarily make the world better either. It’s a tool, and like any tool, it’s all about how we use it. So let’s use it wisely and responsibly.
