Microsoft Windows: Meet Your New Copilot

Microsoft recently showed a suite of AI-centric innovations at their annual developersā€™ event, Microsoft Build. Their alliance with OpenAI enhances Bingā€™s capabilities and brings us Azure OpenAI Service and Dev Home, an enriched Windows experience for developers. They also unveiled Microsoft Fabric, an integrated analytics platform tailored for AI and biz applications.

Microsoft 365 Windows Copilot brings centralized AI assistance to Windows 11 to boost productivity and workflow by tapping into Microsoft data. Its integration into Office apps will enable users to do things like generate text to images in PowerPoint, automate PivotTables and graphs in Excel, and draft well-articulated emails in Outlook.

A live demo showcased sidebar chatbot conversational requests to curate personalized Spotify playlists, create logos via Adobe Express, provide transcription services, and even decipher code.

Microsoft is going all-in on copilots (super-smart apps that use cutting-edge AI to help tackle those brain-busting tasks) and plug-ins to extend their AI ecosystem and make your world a productivity breeze. Stay tuned for June roll-out.

Spacetop: An AR Laptop Thatā€™s Projecting the Future

Remember the mind-blowing 3D screens in the then futuristic thriller, Minority Report? Well, virtual screens are now a real thing. A startup called Sightful is demoing Spacetop, the worldā€™s first ā€˜augmented reality laptop.ā€™ Itā€™s a screen-less keyboard deck and pair of goggles that project virtual computer screens into your visual field, solving the issue of limited screen space for mobile computing.

The Spacetop experience is like having a giant projector shooting your computer screen in front of you. The goggles are comfortable and transparent, optimized for viewing content. Audio comes through the glasses, quiet but not audible to those around you. Imagine sitting at Starbucks with multiple screens hovering over your coffee.

While there are still some kinks to work out (limited field of vision, performance, and battery life), Spacetop offers a glimpse into a screen-less future. Amidst the AI hype, letā€™s not overlook other technological revolutions on the horizon.
