The New Kid on the Corporate Block
Last week we touched on AI’s impact on certain occupations. But what does this mean at scale? NPR dropped an article about a nameless company that adopted AI to upskill and reskill its workforce. Employees were trained to manage and supervise AI systems, complementing the machines’ work, rather than competing with it. The results? Streamlined processes, increased efficiency, and improved decision-making.
So will AI fix work? The answer isn’t as binary as yes or no, but rather a maybe. Microsoft’s deep dive shows that while AI is definitely shaping the future of work, it’s more about integrating it into existing systems, figuring out what tasks it can take over, and then training humans to work with it.
Turns out OpenAI uses a shadow workforce of human contractors to feed its AI context, help it understand nuance, and basically teach it to talk like a human (albeit, a really smart one) all for $15 an hour. In fact, many of the tech giants (Meta aka Facebook and Apple) also lean on human contractors to train their AI.
82% of leaders say their employees will need new skills to be prepared for the growth of AI.

Google’s New AI: Your Personalized Assistant with a Moral Compass
Speaking of tech giants, Google recently had their annual Google I/O event, and boy, did they have some tech treats to share, per Technology Review.
First off, Google’s AI is getting a major upgrade. They’re doubling down on machine learning, making it even more integrated into their services. From search to maps (click on the tweet below 👇) to email, the result is smarter, more personalized services that can almost read your mind.
They’ve also got a fresh focus on ethics, making sure their AI isn’t just smart, but also fair and responsible according to The New York Times. Google’s not just making AI everywhere and smarter, but they’re also making it safer.
