Teslaā€™s Pickup Game

Tesla has announced the production of its first Cybertruck at its Gigafactory in Austin, a significant milestone for the much-anticipated electric pickup truck first revealed in 2019. The news comes before Teslaā€™s Q2 2023 earnings call, where more details are expected. Despite multiple delays and reported design issues, the Cybertruck has garnered over 1.5 million reservations as of November 2022. Its launch positions Tesla in the competitive EV pickup market, alongside rivals like Fordā€™s F-150 Lightning, Chevyā€™s Silverado EV, and Rivianā€™s R1T.

IN AI

Apple GPT

Apple is stepping up its AI game with the development of a chatbot similar to OpenAIā€™s ChatGPT and Googleā€™s Bard. Dubbed ā€œApple GPT,ā€ the large language model (LLM) is being built on Appleā€™s own framework, ā€œAjax.ā€ Itā€™s currently being used internally for product prototyping, but thereā€™s no official plan for a consumer release yet. This move aligns with Appleā€™s recent push to hire more generative AI experts and meet the growing demand for AI tools. With Siri currently outmoded, it could be the prime candidate for Apple to integrate its LLM into.

The Llama in the Room

While the digital world buzzes about Threads and its fluctuating user base, Meta and Microsoft have released Llama 2. Itā€™s a next-gen, open-source LLM thatā€™s free for research and commercial use. Llama 2 aims to democratize access to foundational models, enabling businesses, startups, entrepreneurs, and researchers to innovate in the generative AI space. In addition to being listed in the Azure AI model catalog and optimized to run locally on Windows, the companies are also emphasizing responsible use and safety in AI development.
